Duties and Responsibilities
•Key responsibility is to design and develop new innovative fabrics for the Custom Fabrics Division
•Organize and lead development trials internally, and also at other alternate manufacturing facilities.
•Develop and ensure new products meet specifications (bill of materials, performance/test plan and quality), cost and timing objectives.
•Evaluate and optimize product concepts and designs for performance function, manufacturability, packaging and material handling.
•Generate product prototypes and perform product testing for internal evaluation as well as for customer and consumer testing/feedback
•Develop and evaluate cost analysis for new and modified product concepts from design through production launch to maximize product value and competitiveness
•Implement new products from qualification of manufacturer through first production run (launch) including statistical sampling and initial and long term performance, function, and identifying any transitioning technical issues.
•Complete technical and financial evaluations of competitive products.
•Work on new processes and new technology evaluations as assigned.
•Interface and collaboration with cross-functional team including marketing, design, manufacturing, planning, and purchasing.

Requirements

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Textiles, Engineering, or Chemistry.
•Minimum 5 years of work experience in Textiles preferably product development.
•Strong background in project management, statistical analysis
•Travel will be required (typically 20% or less)
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to make convincing presentations.
