Job Overview

Grade F: The purpose of this role is to learn the role of the Assistant Textile Technician within the Shetland College Textile Facilitation Unit. The expectation is that the post holder would progress to the Grade G role after two years of satisfactory employment.

Grade G: The purpose of this role is to assist the Textile Technician in providing a complete knitting and makeup service within the Shetland College Textile Facilitation Unit.

  • The grade of this post is Grade F/G.
  • Salary shown is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance (£1,998 per annum (pro rata).
  • This post is career graded. Your salary and career progression will depend on your experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

The main activities are:
  • Provide technical support for students studying on the NC Art and Design and the BA Hons Contemporary Textile courses;
  • Demonstrating use of textile equipment and textile knitting techniques;
  • To support students in project work as required by class lecturers;
  • To contribute to a design programming and production service to develop the knitted textile designs of students and customers;
  • To use existing CAD/CAM programmes to carry out production short runs;
  • To undertake finishing tasks (linking, sewing, washing, pressing) for student projects and for customers during prototype stages;
  • To assist academic staff in supporting student achievement and progression;
The Individual

Applications should be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Educated to SVQ2 or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and organisational skills;
  • Ability to work with people in a learning environment;
  • Experience of CAD/CAM programming;
  • Understanding of garment construction and terminology.

Dumneavoastra sunteti responsabil pentru punerea in practica a targetelor de calitate convenite cu conducerea.

Calitatea produsului, calitatea procesului si deasemenea o remediere rapida si eficienta a greselilor fac parte din responsabilitatea dvs. Pe termen lung sunteti persoana de contact pentru clienti, referitor la teme de calitate, audituri si prelucrarea reclamatiilor.

Descrierea jobului:
  • Directionare, documentatie, controlling si pornire a seriilor noi; planificare si superveghere a masurilor de corectura.
  • Asigurarea opririlor de productie in sectiile sus numite
  • Sustinere si propuneri de imbunatatiri si corecturi in cazul unor greseli
  • Documentarea diferitelor calitati si reglarea masinilor si a produselor 
  • Este persoana de contact intre conducerea de productie si planificarea productiei
  • Optimizarea procesului de calitate
  • Sustinerea la construirea unei retele de furnizori de calitate si a unui management intern a furnizorilor
  • Asigurarea calitatii in procesul de productie, deasemenea realizarea si supervegherea calitatii in process.
  • Verificarea cantitatilor din stoc si din productie la evtl. greseli aparute; emitere de stop livrare, sau evacuare depozit, realizarea si cordonarea reparatiei a greselilor.
  • Emitere de planuri specifice pentru aprovizionare/ expediere
  • Responsabil pentru siguranta produsului
  • Realizarea si imbunatatirea a sistemului de calitate
  • Sustinere la scolarizarea a noilor angajati
  • Sustinere la produsele noi elaborate, avaluare calitativa a prototipurilor, si scolarizari
Cerinte:
  • Experienta in domeniul productiei a confectiilor (preferabil pe masinile sus amintite) in organizarea intreprinderilor, in pregatirea procesului de productie fac parte din profilul candidatului. 
  • Candidatul are experienta in managmentul procesului, cunoaste metode de verificare si siguranta produsului
  • Stilul de lucru este structurat si orientat spre tel, cu dorinta de a atinge telul propus
  • Abilitati de comunicare foarte bune va usuraza contactul cu colegii si partenerii externi
  • Cunoasterea limbii germane sau engleza

Descrierea jobului:

- Asigurarea marfii pentru productie

Shima Seiki Programmer
Applications are invited from experienced programmers with the ability to use the Shima Seiki SDS One Apex 3 system to grade new styles to a high degree of accuracy of measurement.  Line writing experience will be beneficial to grade garments from prototypes through to production from initial fabrics.

An eye for detail is essential as you will have responsibility for checking the quality of the knitwear produced.  You must be well organised, be able to work well as part of a team and have a flexible attitude towards multi-skilled training. This is a full-time position for 39 hours per week.

Johnstons of Elgin knitwear production facility is located in the historic town of Hawick in the beautiful Scottish Borders, known for its rich textiles heritage and the highest quality cashmere and woollen products.
